Purpose: Investigate the the cellular phenotypes enriched in breast cancer cells subjected to long-term exposure to palmitic acid (PA).
Conclusion: Long-term adaptation to PA induced a consistent cellular dedifferentiation towards a cancer stem-cell like phenotype in MDA-MB-231 and HCC1806 cells.

Quality control: Panel staining was optimised and validated on both MDA-MB-231 and HCC1806 parental and PA-adapted cell line cells.
