Notice: Temporary Suspension of New Experiment Creation
We have temporarily disabled the creation of new experiments as we are continuously running out of space. This issue has been impacting both uploads and downloads from FlowRepository. By taking this step, we aim to make downloads of existing data more reliable.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work on upgrading our hardware and improving the overall solution.

Experiment Overview

Repository ID: FR-FCM-Z2ZW Experiment name: Randomization in CyTOF (nonrandomized and maximal data) MIFlowCyt score: 22.50%
Primary researcher: Giorgos Papoutsoglou PI/manager: Giorgos Papoutsoglou Uploaded by: Giorgos Papoutsoglou
Experiment dates: 2017-10-01 - Dataset uploaded: Mar 2019 Last updated: Oct 2019
Keywords: None Manuscripts: [31692248] Cytalogo
Organizations: University of Crete, Computer Science, Heraklion, Crete (Greece)
Purpose: Show that randomization can negatively affect multivariate data analysis methods such as dimensionality reduction, clustering and network reconstruction algorithms.
Conclusion: Randomization should be used only for visualization purposes, and never in conjunction with high-dimensional analytical tools.
Comments: The fcs files refer to the same PBMC data before and after randomization was applied. Please note that the non-randomized data are already normalized and the randomized data are already scaled using arcsinh with co-factor 5.
Funding: The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Research Council under the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP/2007-2013) / ERC Grant Agreement n. 617393; CAUSALPATH – Next Generation Causal Analysis project.
