Repository ID: FR-FCM-Z4P5 Experiment name: Georg et al. COVID-19 CyTOF data Cohort 1 MIFlowCyt score: 26.25%
Primary researcher: Rosario Astaburuaga-García PI/manager: Birgit Sawitzki Uploaded by: Rosario Astaburuaga-García
Experiment dates: 2020-03-26 - 2021-09-09 Dataset uploaded: Dec 2021 Last updated: Dec 2021
Keywords: [Clustering] [Immunophenotyping] [T cell] [CyTOF] [single cell analytics] [COVID-19] Manuscripts:
Organizations: Charité University Medicine, Berlin, (Germany)
Purpose: To reveal putative immunopathogenic roles of T cells in severe COVID-19, we performed mass cytometry of whole blood samples from mild and severe COVID-19 patients during the acute and convalescent phase, alongside patients with other acute respiratory infections (Flu-like illness, FLI), as well as patients chronically infected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis B (HBV) and controls.
Conclusion: We identified highly activated, CD16+ T cells with increased cytotoxic functions in severe COVID-19, which persist during convalescence and maintain their high cytotoxic potential.
