High-frequency flow cytometry data was captured of a microbial ecosystem in order to track the community dynamics by a newly developed bioinformatic pipeline. The results were put in juxtaposition of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing.
Conclusion:
Alpha diversity metrics derived from flow cytometry and 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing provide identical interpretation of microbial community dynamics.

Funded by SCK-CEN.
Quality control:
All analysis were conducted in technical replicates (n = 3). Machine performance was checked daily with fluorescent calibration beads.
